Grand Mufti: Deprivation of knowledge is pure slavery and we are keen to liberate the human mind
The Grand Mufti, Sheikh Ali Gomaa, launched a new campaign in his charity organization “Misr al Kheir” titled “Misr al Kheir for knowledge” and this event was attended by renowned researchers and academic professors in the field of scientific research.
Sheikh Ali Gomaa stated “scientific research is the key to every progress and advancement without which we stand no chance in changing our living reality.” He further added that Islam calls for freedom of thought and expression bounded with refined manners and this kind of freedom is what liberates human beings from slavery.
Islam paid extra attention to the issue of liberating mankind from slavery and dedicated portions of Zakah to fulfill this purpose. Sheikh Ali Gomaa stated that now we are slaves as long as we lack knowledge and we are liberated and free as long as we obtain knowledge.
The Minister of Scientific Research, Nadia Zakhary, praised the Grand Mufti’s effort through “Misr al Kheir” for his keenness for developing humans through societal development. She also emphasized on the importance of knowledge as a cornerstone in building modern economies and added that the society has great expectations from the scientific research as an advanced tool for solving threatening problems.
The Minister of Communications and Technology, ‘Atef Helmi, said that Dr. Ali Gomaa’s campaign is a living proof of the deep interest of “Misr al Kheir” in developing the human being through building a paradigm of knowledge in the Egyptian society as both development and knowledge go hand in hand in creating better future through scientific advancement.
