The Grand Mufti, Sheikh Ali Gomaa, was chosen as the “Social Figure of the Year 2012”

The Club of Egyptian Accomplishments honors the Grand Mufti of Egypt, Dr. Ali Gomaa, for being the most influential personality in social work and civil societal activities for the year 2012.

The club has conducted an electronic survey about the “social figure of the year” and the Grand Mufti was placed the first among ten influential personalities for the year 2012.

Walead al ‘Arabi, the club president, said that H.E Dr. Ali Gomaa succeeded in changing the face of social work in Egypt through caring for human development and eradicating illiteracy along with investing in humans through training them to be effective and beneficial citizens in the society. This new paradigm of thinking elevates the status of the human being from merely taking aids and receiving assistance and turns him into a productive citizen.
He further added that the Grand Mufti through his charity organization “Misr al Kheir” superseded all other charity and civil organizations as Dr. Gomaa turned “Misr al Kheir” to be a major institution which seeks to develop the Egyptian society in different sectors mainly education and health.
