The New Mufti to Sheikh Ali Gomaa “you made it difficult for whoever comes after you to follow suit”

In a joint press conference which is the first of its kind, Sheikh Ali Gomaa, the Grand Mufti of Egypt handed over the responsibility of the prestigious position of the Grand Mufti of Egypt to the newly appointed Mufti, Dr. Shawqi ‘Allam who would assume his responsibilities as the Grand Mufti starting today. In his heartfelt short speech, Sheikh Ali Gomaa, deeply thanked the team work of Dar al Iftaa for all their great efforts to develop this great institution to be a role model for other religious institutions to follow. He also asked the employees of Dar al Iftaa to continue their efforts and to show utmost cooperation with the new mufti to help him in his task of developing this prominent religious institution and serving the Muslim world.

Sheikh Ali Gomaa also sent his warm congratulations for the new mufti and thanked the Council of Senior Scholars (CSS) for the integrity and the transparency of the election process to elect the new mufti. He also called for unity and solidarity of all Egyptians to pass through this intricate phase in its modern history.

In his first official appearance, Dr. Shawqi ‘Allam, addressed Sheikh Ali Gomaa in his speech and said to him “you made it difficult for whoever comes after you as the great achievements that Dar al Iftaa witnessed makes the task of the next mufti very hard”.
